Referees and Helpers for Events Needed – Volunteer now

Central Gauteng Triathlon as well as TSA welcomes the support of those parents and supporters of athletes who are willing to assist in Marshalling, Officiating and assisting our Province at events.

If you are able to assist then please send an email with details of what you could assist the Province with to cgtraithlon@wemail.co.za with the header “Assistance offered” and we will contact you.

Those who are willing to be trained to become Referees are also asked to reply as we always have a shortage of trained officials and help is always required.  You will be trained initially via the Province and from there you can then go through the ranks to hopefully become one of our top level referees in the future.

National Technical Official

To apply for   L4 qualification the Official must successfully demonstrate the  ability to fulfill the following roles and   comply with the following: 

  • Competition   Manager (CM), Technical Delegate (TD), Team Leader (TL) Head Referee (HR) and   Competition Jury (CJ) at the highest level of national and international   events.
  • Assigned and   successfully fulfilled duties at a minimum 5 ITU World Cup, World   Championship events or Major International events.
  • Presenter of   Certification Courses Level 1 and 2.
  • Demonstrate   positive potential during Level 3 mentorship.
  • Communicate   with the TSA Board, & Technical Committee, TSA Staff and LOC’s
  • Strong   leadership role within TSA and Provincial structures
  • Maintain a   minimum working experience of 8 events per year.
  • Three years   experience at L 3.
  • Successful   practical period under L4 mentor supervision of TSA Technical Committee.
  • TSA Member   uninterrupted for 8 years
  • Level 4   accreditation approved by TSA Excom upon recommendation of TSA Technical   Committee.

 

To maintain   L4 qualification the Official must continually demonstrate the ability to   fulfill all the roles and requirements stipulated herein as well as that   required by the ITU.

National Technical Official

To apply for   L3 qualification the Official must successfully demonstrate the  ability to fulfill the following roles and   comply with the following:

 

  • Technical   Delegate, Head Referee, Competion Jury, Sector Leader or other Race Official   duties at provincial sanctioned events.
  • Presenter of   Certification Course L 1.
  • Communicate   effectively with the provincial, technical and organising committees.
  • Strong   leadership role within Provincial structures.
    • TSA member   uninterrupted for 6 years.
    • Three years   experience at Level 2
    • Successful   practical period under mentor supervision of TSA Technical Committee.
    • Level 3   accreditation approved by TSA Excom upon recommendation of TSA Technical   Committee.

 

To maintain   L3 qualification the Official must demonstrates ability to fulfill the   following roles and qualified to act as:

  •  Head Referee,   Sector Leader, Technical Delegate or other Race Official duties at World Cup,   Continental and other international events.
  • Head Referee,   Sector Leader, Technical Delegate, Competion Jury or other race official   duties at National Championships (triathlon).
  • Presenter of   Certification Courses Level 1 and 2
  • Communicate effectively   with the TSA & Technical Committee.
  • Strong   leadership role within TSA & Provincial structures
  • Maintain a minimum   working experience of 8 events per year.

To apply for   L2 qualification the Official must successfully demonstrate the  ability to fulfill the following roles and   comply with the following:

  • Race Official   (referee) at national, provincial and local events. Act as assistant to a   Head Official at provincial and local events.
  • TSA Member   uninterrupted for 4 years.
  • Attend Level   2 course and pass evaluation / mentorship process.

 

To maintain   qualification:

  • TSA Member.
  • Maintain a   minimum working experience of 6 events per year.
  • Race Official   or Sector Leader at national and international events.

 

National and Provincial   Events

Requirements   to attain qualification:

  • Attend Level   1 course and pass evaluation / mentorship process (3 events of which 2 must   be triathlon events).
  • TSA Member

 

To maintain   qualification:

  • Maintains a   minimum working experience of 5 events per year.
  • TSA Member

 NOTES

  • Level 1 Certification Course Program is delivered and managed by the Provincial Bodies using Triathlon South Africa approved programs.
  •  The National Technical Officials Program (Level 2, 3 & 4) is delivered and managed directly by Triathlon South Africa through the TSA Technical Committee.
  • Potential candidates for Level 3 & 4 are nominated by their Provincial structure to the TSA Technical Committee for approval.
  • Race Officials maintain their certification by continuously complying with the specified Level criteria and attending courses and refreshers courses as and when requested by TSA.
