COACHING COURSES EXPLAINED

Coaching Courses are  organised for the both a Level 1 and Level 2 Coaches as well as an introductory community Level Coaching Course aimed at aspiring development coaches and Schools.

A basic explanation of the various courses is as shown below.

NOTE –  For Level 1 and Level 2 Courses preference is given to the registered CGT members who are actively involved promoting the development and growth of the sport in CGT.

 

  1. Community Coaching Course
    1. Designed to assist those people who would like to start coaching and introducing new, development and School athletes into the sport of Triathlon and Duathlon.
    2. Ideal for Club members, School Teachers and those Moms and Dads wanting to get involved in in our school development initiative.
    3. Requirements
      1.  No previous coaching experience necessary but must have the ability to work with Senior and Junior athletes.
      2.  Two Days for the Course and a post course Project.
      3.  You can swim, bike and run.
      4.  A Level 1 First Aid Certificate is advisable.
      5.  A Police Clearance Certificate is advisable and may be requested / required.
      6.  Optional but recommended – A TSA Level 1 Technical Qualification.  (Course is about 1 Day)
      7.  Be prepared to work with CGT in their development programs and submit reports and feedback accordingly.
      8.  Provide motivation as to why you want to gain accreditation as a community coachNOTE –
      • You will be required to give some of your time back to the province by assisting / coaching or helping with coaching clinics.

  1. Level 1 TSA Coaching Course
    1. Designed for those who want to be more effective in their coaching, wanting to expand and get involved in the effective and systematic training of groups of people in Schools and Clubs in order to help their athletes achieve better and more substantial results
    2. Ideal for existing coaches wanting to expand their coaching abilities and prepared to get more involved in the technical development of their athletes in the sport of Triathlon and Duathlon.   To be more effective in their coaching and wanting to expand and get involved in the effective and systematic training of groups of people in Schools and Clubs and to help their athletes achieve better and more substantial results and willing to assist and oversee, where required, those Community coaches in the development of their training methods and training groups.
    3. Requirements
      1.  Previous experience in coaching (not necessarily Triathlon or Duathlon) or those with an extensive knowledge within the Sport of Triathlon / Duathlon.  It would be an advantage having a valid training log/ evidence of coaching experience to date.
      2.  Three Days for the Course and post course project requirements of +- 8 to 10 hours between the second and third day of the course.  The first two days of the course run on the first weekend with the third day on the second weekend allowing for time to do the project.
      3.  A Police Clearance Certificate is required for CGT Coaches.
      4.  First Aid Level 1 Certificate
      5.  Optional but recommended – A TSA Level 1 Technical Qualification.  (Course is about 1 Day).  CGT Athletes will be required to this course within 1 year of their qualification if not already completed.
      6.  You can swim, bike and run.
      7.  Commitment to assist CGT with further training and capacity building into the future and what kind of contribution you can realistically.
      8.  Be prepared to work with CGT in their development programs and submit reports and feedback accordingly.

  1. Level 2 TSA Coaching Course
    1. Designed for those who have substantial experience in coaching and / or have completed a recognised sports degree or who have done Level 2 course in an affiliated recognised sport and focuses on the focuses on the high performance sector of training.
    2. Ideal for existing TSA Level 1 Coaches who have established and are running training groups who want to move onto the higher performance training of their athletes and willing to assist and oversee where required  those Community and Level 1 coaches in the development of their training methods and training groups
    3. Requirements
      1.  Previous extensive experience in coaching in Triathlon or Duathlon or relative Sports Degree.
      2.  Valid training logs / evidence of coaching experience to date.
      3.  Proof of TSA Level 1 Coaching certificate or relative Sports Degree
      4.  Proof of TSA Level 1 Technical Qualification
      5.  You can swim, bike and run.
      6.  Justifiable reasons for wanting to obtain Level 2 accreditation what you intend doing once you have obtained this level
      7.  Six Days for the Course and post course project requirements of Six (6) Months project work.
      8.  Police clearance certificate
      9.  First Aid Level 1 Certificate
      10. Optional but recommended – A TSA Level 1 Technical Qualification.  (Course is about 1 Day).  CGT Athletes will be required to this course within 1 year of their qualification if not already completed.
      11. Commitment to assist CGT with further training and capacity building into the future and what kind of contribution you can realistically.
      12. Be prepared to work with CGT in their development programs and submit reports and feedback accordingly.NOTE –
